ISCHIA PORTO
Ischia is the most populous centre of the island. It stretches from the Castello Aragonese, along the coast to the Port formed by the sea entering into a vulcanic crater. Ischia’ s social and seaside life and thermal treatments take place in the midst of breathtaking panorama and beautiful pine groves. The famous Aragonese Castle, rises from the sea and it is linked to Ischia by a bridge. From the delightful Lido there are departures for trips and excursions to the Cartaromana beach, the Campagnano hill, to Cafiero, Montagnone and Cretaio. Ischia is the seat of a Bishop.

BARANO - MARONTI BEACH
The famous Maronti Beach, the pride of the municipality of Barano, cames as surprise to the visitor who finds behind the festive animated scene which the island presents, a corner of paradise. Maronti is the largest beach in Ischia, rich in thermal springs beneath the sands and here the tourist can enjoy the rare pleasure of diving into the sea water which has the temperature and health-giving properties of thermal spa.

CASAMICCIOLA TERME
This small seaside town was the first to acquire a reputation for thermal treatment. It is linked to the Port of Ischia by a pleasant scenic road and is well served with hotels and boarding houses for the tourist who prefer something quieter and less elegant then Lacco Ameno. Since the 19th it has occupied a leading place as a centre for thermal treatment. Ibsen completed his “Peer Gynt ” here, and other famous men such as Garibaldi and the philosopher Benedetto Croce have spent periods here. The special clay found in the area is used in the artisan workshops for the ceramics industry.

FORIO D’ISCHIA
Forio is the favourite foreign visitors’ town, thank of its natural unspoiled greenery, its plesant beaches (such as Citara and San Francesco beach), its attractive walks of Punta Caruso, to the Faro (the Light House), its interesting small Church of Soccorso (Church of Soccorso) built on a rocky spur overlooking the sea, and other points as the Torrione and the Poseidon Gardens. And then there are the excellent wines from the surroundings appreciated by many Italian and foreign artists that have in Forio their favourite colony.

LACCO AMENO
This beautiful inlet has beach of tufa rock in the shape of a mushroom. The Bsilica of St. Restituta and the excavations of Monte Vico are of great archaeological interest . But most important of all, Lacco Ameno is famous for its thermal springs.
Type of waters : salty-sulphate-alkaline earthy, hyperthermal
Mud (= Fango ) : The Thermal Mud of Lacco Ameno comes from mineral sediments and salts of crystalisation from the springs mixed with natural radio-active water.
Therapeutic indications : Arthro - rheumopathies of a degenerative nature (osteo-arthritis, dis- metabolic arthropathies, etc.) after effects of phlebitis, vascular, venous and arterial affections, cellulitis, metabolic disorders (gout and obesity), diseases of the endocrine glands, sexual asthenia, premature aging, diseases of the peripheral system and the neurovegetative system, allergy manifestations, gynaecological affections (metritis, adnexitits, etc.), female sterility, chronic catarrh of the upper respiratory tract, rhinogenous chronic dystrophic and allergic dermatosis, acne, scars, hardening and varicose ulcers, atonia and wrinkling of the face and neck skin.

SERRARA FONTANA – ST ANGELO
Of the inland centres of the island, it has a very special rural charm enriched by vast, brethtaking panoramas. It stands at over 400 metres above sea level, south of volcanic massif of the Epomeo and is essentially a pleasant community . From Serrara the summit of epomeo where the Hermitage of St. Nicholas stands may be reached. The promontory of St. Angelo, with its fihing village to which it is joined by narrow isthmus, is one of the most beautiful spots of Ischia, and the municipality of Serrara Fontana which is the local administrative country.

Therapeutic indications : Diseases of the muscular and connective tissue of an inflamatory, degenerative or traumatic nature (chronic polyarthritis, ankylotic, spondylosis, arthroses, osteochondroses), after-effects of fractures, dislocations, results of operations, paralyses, post-poliomyelitis, neuritic, traumatic and toxic (great prudence is necessaryin case of paralysis following cerebral ictus ), disturbances of the peripherical circulation (great prudence is necessary for the varices), 1st and 2nd stage circulatory disturbances (prudence is required for angina pectoris and in case of previous myocardiac strokes), neurovegetative disturbances.
